Strategic Thinking for Better Spatial Plan toward Sustainable Development
Regional development with a territorial approach try to reduce the development errors in the past, so it will be created a system of development that is integrated by encouraging various forms of spatial linkages such as, physical interactions networks, social, economic, technology and administration. Unfortunately, the tendency showed that the preparation of Spatial Plans only to serve as a reference in drafting local regulations, determining the location of each development sector, preparation of regional and sector budget, setting and controlling development through a mechanism permitting and land use reform. Spatial planning approach more refers to determination of land suitability without paying fully attention to the environmental aspects in a real sense.
Evidence
show that the community involvement since the beginning of spatial planning
process in line with the evaluation of the appropriateness of potential
technical and local solutions to environmental problems were increasing the
legitimacy of the decisions and reduce the level of conflict in spatial
planning utilization. Giving them what the strategic thinking approach intent
to have raised the awareness and behavioral change by the community about how
they are dealing with environment. The strategic thinking approach have changed
the spatial planning manner not only just a land suitability analysis but it
also make the community learn about their environmental problems in which they
have to faces and change their behavior on how to deal with the environment.
